Metal Knuckles is a robot version of Knuckles the Echidna created by Dr. Eggman, and appears as an unlockable character in Sonic R and Sonic Superstars.

Sonic Channel featured Japanese language profiles of the Sonic R characters; translated, Metal Knuckles' is as follows:

Metal Knuckles along with Metal Sonic and Tails Doll were temporally taken control of by Heavy King. The three of them kicked Dr. Eggman out of his fortress in Winter Caverns Zone and were sent by Heavy King to collect the seven Chaos Emeralds.
