Silver the Hedgehog

Silver the Hedgehog is a silver-colored hedgehog in the Sonic universe. A new rival of Sonic's, he has been confirmed to be playable in Sonic Rivals as well as the 15th anniversary version of Sonic the Hedgehog. Little is known about Silver other than the fact that in Sonic the Hedgehog, he has travelled from the future in an effort to find and stop the Iblis Trigger whose actions will cause a great disaster to occur.
Gameplay
The gameplay of Silver is completely different from Sonic. Silver's gameplay emphasizes more on exploration much like Knuckles and Rouge in the Sonic Adventure series. He runs fast but not as fast as Sonic and Shadow.
Unlike Knuckles and Rouge, Silver has a telekinetic ability, and is able to mentally lift objects such as crates and drop them onto, or throw them into, the enemy. He can also use these abilities to block and deflect oncoming attacks. This technique appears to drain his "energy" bar, as does his other psychic abilities. He can also fly short distances.
He can manipulate the environment too, thus expanding the playing areas. This can be activated by clicking on the green context sensitive pad. For example, while standing on the steel beam, he could bend it mentally and let it go, much like a springboard.
Miscellaneous
- Yuji Naka has stated that Silver will be "young", it is unknown if Naka means he is physically young or simply has a childish nature. But judging by the serious tone depicted in the trailer, it is more likely that some will conclude he is physically young.
- It seems that he has some relation to Blaze the Cat. It is unknown at the moment.
- Sonic Team was originally thinking about making Silver's personality similar to Shadow, however they did not want to have similar characters.
- He will be voiced by Pete Capella in the game.
