The Gun Beetle (ガンビートル) is a mass-produced G.U.N. robot that is part of the Beetle series. It's essentially a Mono Beetle with a machine gun attached to its bottom. Like its unarmed brethren, its characteristic movement is to hover in the air.
Sonic Adventure 2
The Gun Beetle first appeared in Sonic Adventure 2, where it is a common enemy that appears in several stages. When it attacks the player, it shoots one projectile at a time, and it awards 100 points when destroyed. Some Gun Beetles won't attack unless the player approaches them, while others will fire two shots per second even when far away (especially in Hard mode). In rare cases, they may not attack at all. It is also possible for a Gun Beetle to be destroyed by another Gun Beetle's shot.
Gun Beetles can be found in the following stages:
|Normal mode||Hard mode|
|Sonic||Crazy Gadget||City Escape, Crazy Gadget|
|Tails||Eternal Engine||Prison Lane, Eternal Engine|
|Shadow||White Jungle||Radical Highway, White Jungle|
|Dr. Eggman||Lost Colony Iron Gate||Lost Colony|
|Rouge||Dry Lagoon, Security Hall||Dry Lagoon, Security Hall|
Shadow the Hedgehog
The Gun Beetle makes a second appearance in Shadow the Hedgehog where it carries a variety of guns to use in battle. If Shadow destroys one, he can help himself to either a Sub-Machine Gun, a Semi-Auto Rifle or a 4-Shot RPG.
The Gun Beetle returns again in the console/PC version of Sonic Generations where it can be found in City Escape alongside the Mono Beetles, returning to firing single projectiles like in Sonic Adventure 2.
