Being a port of a previously completed Sega Dreamcast game, Sonic Adventure 2: Battle is thought to have taken about six months to create. It was first announced at Nintendo Spaceworld 2001 on the 24th August 2001 under the working title of "Sonic Adventure 2"[1], and was in Japanese stores by December.

The Game Boy Advance is red as opposed to white in the final.
