Dragonfly[1], called Tonbar (トンバー) in the Japanese manual[2], is a dragonfly Badnik from Sonic & Knuckles found in Mushroom Hill Zone. It hovers up and down, and similar to Caterkiller can only be destroyed by jumping on its head. The player will take damage if they attack any other part of its body.
Dragonfly returns in the 3DS version of Sonic Generations. This Badnik is found again in Mushroom Hill with the same functions and method to destroy.
Dragonfly returns again in the Wii U/PC version of Sonic Lost World, found exclusively in Silent Forest Zone 2 and retaining the same attack pattern from its 2D appearances. Its design has been altered for this game, giving it more segments to its body, a darker colour scheme, and cyan eyes with no pupils.
Dragonfly returns another time in Sonic Mania's Press Garden Zone. The Badnik is now coloured pink and its body has six segments instead of seven, though the spiked segment on the end is larger than before. These minor changes aside, it functions the same as its original appearance.
