The Egg Flapper, sometimes known as Flapper, or Egg Drone, is an enemy introduced in Sonic Heroes. They basically can be considered as airborne Egg Pawns.
Egg Flappers are the one of the most common enemies in the game besides the Egg Pawns themselves. They resemble airplanes and use jet engines to keep themselves afloat. The easiest way to destroy them is with Thunder Shoot. There are many different kinds of flappers that are equipped with different weapons and come in a variety of colors.

Red | Most basic Flapper, usually stands around but they can patrol an area. They don't have any weapons and are mainly used as Homing Attack fodder. | |
Blue | Flappers equipped with rapid firing machine guns. | |
Green | Flappers equipped with laser guns. | |
Yellow | Flappers equipped with a search light. If the search light is crossed, it will call for Egg Pawns to appear. | |
Neon | Flappers that shoot an electrical beam to the ground. | |
Pink | Flappers that drop bombs, they are called Bomb Flappers in the Official Guide. | |
Violet | Flappers equipped with a pair of red retractable spikes. | |

Sonic Rush
The basic Flappers, along with their ground-based compatriots the Egg Pawns, make a nuisance out of themselves in Sonic Rush; particularly in Altitude Limit, where they get quite lethally in the way of rocket-pad steering. The drones can also be found in the game's Special Stages, where they can be destroyed by Homing Attacking them with the DS stylus.
Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Winter Games
Egg Flappers make an appearance in the Dream Gliding event in Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Winter Games. The point of the game is to shoot down the Flappers while riding a hang glider. They come in red and gold. Red Flappers are worth two points and Gold Flappers are worth five points.
Sonic Generations (Nintendo 3DS)
Egg Flappers also return in the Nintendo 3DS version of Sonic Generations, where they can be found in Water Palace, simply serving as Homing Attack fodder.
