Sonic Adventure 2 (ソニックアドベンチャー2) is a downloadable version of Sonic Adventure 2 and Sonic Adventure 2: Battle for Xbox 360's Xbox Live Arcade, Sony's PlayStation Network and later, the PC Steam client. In the US and Europe, it is billed alongside rereleases of NiGHTS Into Dreams... and Jet Set Radio as part of a "Sega Heritage Collection"; in Japan, it is part of Sega's ongoing Dreamcast initiative.
The game is essentially a straight port of the Battle version of the game, with the aspect ratio upgraded to modern standards (16:9 as opposed to 4:3), though with several oddities present, such as the sudden re-addition of some of Big the Cat's cameo appearances and certain dialogue overlaps being fixed. The HUD has also mostly been redrawn, with new life counter/ring/chao key icons being present, to note a few changes. As well as this, certain elements have been retroactively removed from the game, such as certain characters in the multiplayer offering and the Chao Karate mode, though these can be gained by purchasing and downloading the 'Battle' add-on DLC for 240 MSP or £1.99/$2.99.
Support for Xbox Live leaderboards has been added, as part of Microsoft's requirement for Arcade games to contain such an option. The Xbox live version supports the 360 chatpad when naming Chao and custom soundtracks and also allows for dual stick camera control.
Due to a lack of GBA/VMU connectivity, the Chao Transporter has simply been replaced with a 'Chao Departure Device', the only purpose of which being to delete unwanted Chao.
