Route 280 is the tenth stage of the Dark storyline of Sonic Adventure 2 and played by Rouge the Bat. After discovering that Tails was awarded a Chaos Emerald directly following the events of Sonic Adventure, she goes to track him down on the highway. Unlike Rouge's other stages, Route 280 is a kart racing stage. The stage is named for Interstate 280, which runs from San Jose to San Francisco.
The controls for the stage are straightforward. Use 
to accelerate; when turning, tap then hold it down to start a powerslide, which is useful on corners. You can stop sliding by releasing the analog stick for a second. 
activates a 5-second boost, which is received for every twenty rings collected.
The course consists of three laps with a 90-second extension after each lap. The layout is somewhat harder than Tails' Route 101 stage, as there are gaps in the road and open parts of walls that lead to falling off the track entirely.
If this level is beaten before Route 101, the Kart Race minigame will become available; if it is beaten after Route 101 the 2P Kart Race minigame will become available.
