Sonic Wind[1] (ソニックウインド[2]) is a move used by Sonic the Hedgehog. The move allows Sonic to create blue wind currents and fire them at nearby, or distant opponents. The move has only been used in Sonic Adventure 2 and its re-releases.
Overview
Sonic can use Sonic Wind as a special attack in the 2P Battle mode when he has collected at least 40 Rings (or 20 Rings when he is wearing his special suit). When the move is ready, the player can press while Sonic is on the ground to use it, which will create a cyclone of razor-sharp wind that will wrap around Sonic's opponent no matter where they are, and inflict damage. This attack is fast and cannot be avoided, though Metal Sonic can block the attack by using Black Shield. If Sonic dies before he can collect any Rings, he will be able to use Sonic Wind for free.
Sonic will also use Sonic Wind in the second boss battle against him in the Dark side story. In this case, he will use it if he is allowed to run too far ahead of Shadow. Unlike in the 2P Battle mode, Shadow can avoid the attack by performing a Somersault. Attempting to jump over it will only result in damage.
Shadow's version of the move is Chaos Spear, and Amy's version of the move is Storming Heart.
