History
Mecha Sonic was created by Dr. Eggman to battle Sonic the Hedgehog in Sky Sanctuary. He is an improved model of Mecha Sonic from his predecessor that fought Sonic on the Death Egg.[3] Sonic and Tails defeated Mecha Sonic Mk. II, but Mecha survived. Later, while Knuckles the Echidna was battling an Egg Robo, Mecha appeared in a surprise attack and destroyed the Egg Robo. Knuckles and Mecha began battling each other, until a moment where it seemed Knuckles was the victor. Then Mecha Sonic began drawing power from the Master Emerald, transforming into Super Mecha Sonic Mk. II. Knuckles didn't give up and pushed on until Mecha Sonic was damaged to the point where he couldn't continue to fight on.

After the events of Sonic the Hedgehog 3 & Knuckles, Mecha Sonic Mk. II washed up on Scrapnik Island and was repaired by E-117 Sigma. Upon waking up, Sigma welcomed Mecha Sonic to the island, and explained that he rebuilt him and told him he is no longer a tool for destruction. Now with body parts of other broken Badniks, Mecha Sonic is free to live safely and can find a new purpose. Sigma knew however that Mecha's systems were very robust, and feared that his old protocols could reawaken despite his attempts in reprogramming Mecha. All the while, Mecha believed that Dr. Eggman would come back to get him on Scrapnik Island so they could conquer the world together.[4] One day, a flower inexplicably washed ashore, Mecha found it and started taking care of it while he waited for Dr. Eggman.[5]
