Artwork of the Hidden Treasure Ring from the PS2/Wii version of Sonic Unleashed.

Hidden Treasure Rings or simply Hidden Treasure Items are special Ring-type items found in the PS2/Wii versions of Sonic Unleashed.

Overview

They appear in the "Special Mission! Find the Tresure!" Night Stages, where the player's goal is to obtain exactly five of this items within a time limit of 3 minutes (or 4 minutes in Eggmanland). They can be hidden inside jars and boxes that you must break, enemies that you must defeat or sometimes just placed in plain sight. As soon as the player obtains the five items, the mission is instantly cleared.

This type of mission is, by consequence, the only type of Stage that doesn't require the player to get to a Goal Ring, beat a boss or accomplish a set task (such as beating a certain number of enemies or collecting a certain number of rings, which by themselves don't make you clear a Stage in normal conditions). "Find the Treasure!" missions exist in Spagonia (Rooftop Run)[1], Shamar (Arid Sands)[2] and Eggmanland[3].
