Pachacamac (mistakenly spelled Pochacamac in Sonic the Comic) was the ancient Chieftain of the Knuckles Clan, and father of Tikal. The old echidna is shown with a furry muzzle (unlike other echidnas, possibly due to his advanced age) and he exhibits a constant squint; although this quirk was absent from his portrayals in alternate media. Three thousand years ago, Pachacamac orchestrated the attack on the Emerald Shrine which enraged Chaos Zero, and he was killed in the ensuing carnage.[1]

Being long-dead, Pachacamac has only ever been seen in flashbacks such as during Sonic Adventure thanks to Tikal (in her discorporate form as a glowing ball).
Inheriting the leadership of the Knuckles Clan after his mother's death, Pachacamac proved himself a greedy warmonger, in stark contrast to the pacifistic tendencies of both his daughter and mother. Tikal did try to talk her father out of his belligerent ways, but ultimately failed, leaving Pachacamac to turn his eyes on the Emerald Shrine - considering the stones as key to the clan's continued survival and victories. With their power he believes he can expand the growth of the clan. Ignoring his daughter's pleas, Pachacamac's warriors attacked the Shrine, hurting the Chao and enraging Chaos Zero, who transformed into Perfect Chaos. The Knuckles Clan's civilization was destroyed in one fell swoop; Pachacamac and his warriors killed. Chaos was prevented from drowning the entire world only by the intercession of the Master Emerald, responding to Tikal's pleas to prevent further carnage.

As Sonic Chronicles later reveals, Pachacamac's wars brought him into conflict with the Nocturnus Clan, a separate nation of echidnas ruled by Imperator Ix. Just before the last boss, Imperator Ix briefly recalls the face of his ancient foe.

Sonic the Hedgehog (film series)
In the first Sonic the Hedgehog film, Pachacamac is seen among the echidnas who launched an attack on a young Sonic's home in order to seize his power for themselves. He is seen shooting an arrow at Sonic's guardian, Longclaw, bringing her down and forcing her to send Sonic to Earth alone.
Returning as a ghostly apparition during the events of The Warrior, now sporting a more game accurate design to him, Pachacamac serves as a guide to Knuckles who felt purposeless after recovering the Master Emerald. The Echidna chief encourages Knuckles to pass down their tribe's traditions and train a new warrior, which Pachacamac suggests to be Wade Whipple.
Later, in the fourth episode The Flames of Disaster, Pachacamac returns, this time around to guide Wade out of his current trouble and find his inner strength through what he calls a low-budget rock opera that depicts the backstory of Knuckles and how the power is within his heart. In this particular episode, Mac transforms his traditional vests into a bowling alley attendant uniform.
