Scarab is a Badnik in Sonic the Hedgehog CD's Metallic Madness. It isn't listed in any instruction manual, however it is referred to in the game's source code as "scarab", which is a type of dung beetle. It is a unique badnik in that it sometimes holds monitors. If you get caught in the claw in the back, the badnik will roll you, in ball form, a little bit and then shoot you in the direction opposite to where it is facing. Hit it on the head to destroy.

Scarab reappears in Sonic Mania's Metallic Madness Zone. This version of the badnik carries spikes rather than monitors; as no Scarabs in this game are empty-handed and the spikes they carry cannot be destroyed, it is impossible for the player to be caught between their claws.
