In Search Of...
Deep in the frozen tundra of the southern continent of Mobius, Sonic the Hedgehog and Miles "Tails" Prower trudge slowly through the raging blizzard. They're continuing the hunt for Ixis Naugus, and they believe his whereabouts are inside a mysterious fortress on the cliffside of a snow-covered mountain. Tails is in low spirits, as the Power Ring that powers their bi-plane has gone kaput, essentially stranding the heroes in this hostile land.
Sonic consoles Tails, telling him that he can't give in to his fears now, for fear is a force that feeds Naugus. Naugus enjoys making heroes doubt themselves. He enjoys dirty tricks. He enjoys taking possession over others. Now that they've chased him all the way to the bottom of the world, they can't give in now, otherwise their adventures will have been for nothing. They beat Dr. Robotnik, and beating Naugus requires the same level of determination.
Meanwhile, high above the clouds in the orbit of Mobius, a lone satellite returns to operation. A voice inside utters simply: "O-Sat Unit back online. Commencing system location of target. Target acquired, system locked, and commencing activation... NOW."
Back at the bottom of the world, suddenly the detector Uncle Chuck created to track Naugus' magic goes off. Out of the snow, a hand smacks Sonic downhill. It's Naugus! He taunts the heroes as he takes his normal form. Sonic springs back up and into action, first dodging an energy blast, then triple spinning into the villain. No avail, as he spins right through him. For Naugus has manipulated the elements, and concocted a facsimile made of snow. Sonic has fallen for the trick and now hands precariously from a cliff.
Tails begins flying to his aid, only to be seemingly get distracted by a roar behind him. Sonic at last regains solid footing, only to find his companion frozen in ice! Worse, some Abominable Cybernetic Snow Bot is blasting at the Tails-cicle with a flame thrower! Sonic spins to the aid of his companion, attacking the creature, only bounce off the creature's chassis. Naugus taunts again.
Things go from bad to worse as without warning, a massive avalanche buries all parties to the battle. Quiet minutes pass, and then a flame erupts out of the snow. The snow bot has dug itself out, and it carries an unconscious Sonic and Tails in its arms. It gazes up at the cliffside fortress, crouches, and blasts off towards a landing spot on the balcony.
The snow-bot brings the duo inside, laying them down carefully. A mysterious aged Overlander then enters the room, curious to see what his pet (named Eddy) has brought home. He deducts that these young Mobians couldn't have been the ones responsible for an earlier attack on their fortress. He's about to inspect the two for injury, when Sonic wakes up and jumps back, surprised and confused by what he sees before him. The old Overlander is just as surprised and confused, for what he sees before him, he swears is the face of Jules Hedgehog, Sonic's father. Before the two can sort this situation out, Naugus erupts from the Snow Bot's flamethrower arm. He introduces the Overlander as Nate Morgan... The key to Naugus' domination over Mobius!
"Tales Of The Freedom Fighters: On His Majesty's Secret Service - Part 4 - The Mission"
Princess Sally Acorn enters the Royal Palace (formerly Dr. Robonik's command headquarters) in determination. Determination to get some answers from her father, the King, who seems to be deliberately cutting her out of the loop with regards to the activities of one Geoffrey St. John. She enters the main chamber where both her father and the enigmatic agent stand. He explains that it is his responsibility to secure the best interests of the realm as he sees fit. Geoffrey wishes to address the Princess and better explain himself, but the King vetoes and orders him away to the Briefing Room. The King turns his attention back towards his daughter, and tells her that her only concern should be the restoration of Mobotropolis, and that nothing of what St. John is up to concern her. She obeys, unhappily.
King Acorn enters the Briefing room, where the newly assembled Secret Service team awaits. The time has come for their first mission. First they must know the background information.
In a flashback, fifteen years ago during the Great War with the Overlanders, Castle Acorn came under direct attack. Overlanders made their way inside, putting the Royal Family in direct Jeopardy. The King ordered his trusted top Secret Service Agent, Commander Ian St. John, to evacuate the King's beloved wife Alicia and others to Knothole Village. But the access routes to Knothole have been cut off in the attack, leaving a dangerous flight to Angel Island as the only other viable option. He complies, while the King himself stayed to defend the castle. The battle that day was won, but it's believed that the transport convoy carrying the Queen was apparently attacked. The King later sent another team to investigate the convoy's final fate, but not a trace could be found.
However, new evidence has emerged that could help reveal the Queen's final fate. The team is ordered to Angel Island. Their mission is to solve the mystery of what happened to Queen Alicia.
