Introduction by Ian Flynn
“
|
"I get to write the comics for two of videogames' most enduring icons? Awesome!" I thought. "Now I've surpassed my dreams." And in the back of my mind, a small, eager part of me hoped for more. I was writing Sonic the Hedgehog and now Mega Man. Two brands under one publishing label. What if - what if - we could manage a crossover between the Blue Blur and the Blue Bomber? Not only would I get to write about two characters I've always loved, but write about them together! But I knew that was impossible. Too much red tape, too much legal mumbo-jumbo, yadda yadda yadda. Then one day, I was told Capcom - the owners of Mega Man - wanted to make the crossover happen. SEGA - the owners of Sonic the Hedgehog - thought that was a great idea. What happened to the red tape? What happened to the mumbo-jumbo? I didn't care - the crossover was happening and I got to be a part of it.

The introduction quickly recounts Ian Flynn's journey to becoming a writer for both Sonic the Hedgehog and Mega Man, as well as the excitement of getting to work on a crossover between both properties. He mentions wanting fans of both series to not only have a cool moment for each side to point to from their favorite of the two series, but also to give both sides' fans a chance to appreciate the other series along the way.
