Sonic the Hedgehog 29 is the twenty-ninth issue of the Sonic the Hedgehog comic.

This comic features only two stories: Steel-Belted Sally and Growing Pains, Part 2.

Steel-Belted Sally

The story begins with a short review about how dragons used to roam Mobius, until Robotnik roboticized all of them, minus Dulcy. It then cuts to a scene of a Swat-bot hovercraft in hot pursuit of Sonic and Dulcy. Dulcy ducks, causing the ship to crash into a cliff. As Sonic begins to search the ship, he finds an odd machine. Meanwhile, Robotnik complains about the absence of the craft, Snively says it has crashed, leading to Robotnik getting upset- that craft was carrying a de-roboticizer. He says to self-destruct the craft, but is too late as Sonic speeds off with it in-tact.

Back in Knothole, Rotor finished analyzing and concluding that it was indeed a de-roboticizer. Bunnie suggests using it to turn one of them into a robot, causing Antione to believe she's a spy from Robotnik. Sally realizes what Bunnie means, and says that she should be the one to go. At the outskirts of Robotropolis, Rotor puts a device behind Sallys ear that should let her keep her free will after being roboticized. After saying good-bye to the Freedom Fighters, Sally purposely runs in front of a group of Swat-bots.

After a short chase, Sally is quickly captured by the Swat-bots and taken straight to Robotnik, who promptly roboticizes her. Snively remarks that while being transfromed, the device had fallen off, revealing to Robotnik that the Freedom Fighters tried tricking him again. Robotnik quickly gives Sally a first instruction. Meanwhile, the Freedom Fighters are waiting for her arrival. Sonic flies up a shaft to stall robots so the rest can take her back to de-roboticize her. Meanwhile, Tails says how much he misses Sally, just as she arrives...

Sonic finishes distracting the droids and rushes back down so he can surprise the others by reaching Knothole before them, but is caught in Robotniks trap. He says the only reason he hasn't roboticized them is because he wants the De-roboticizer back from them. Sonic refuses, stating that he "traded it in for a picture of Robuttnik... never know when to blow my nose!" Enraging Robotnik, he quickly sets them up for Roboticization. Sonic asks Rotor where they hid the De-roboticizer, and he says back in Knothole, to which Sonic remembers Dulcy has it.

Meanwhile, Dulcy flies around Robotropolis, worrying because the Freedom Fighters are late getting back. When peaking in a window of the main building, she's horrified to see all of the Freedom Fighters about to be roboticized. Robotnik has decided to forget about the De-roboticizer, and has Sally there to press the button. Suddenly, Dulcy busts through the window, and Robotnik orders Sally to quickly Roboticize them before it's too late. Sonic tries convincing her not to do Sally not to do it, but she is de-roboticized before pressing the button.

Robotnik tries doing it himself, but Dulcy melts the control panel before he can. Dulcy holds off Robotnik and Snively while Sonic releases everyone else. Back in Knothole, Sonic is dissapointed that Sally couldn't get the job done, but Dulcy chimes in that "it was Robotnik who didn't get the job done... that's why I fired him!"

Growing Pains, Part 2

After a recap of what happened in the previous issue, we come to Tails in the process of being roboticized. But Robotnik is suddenly surprised as the shrieks from Tails and the engine stop, and bends down to look at what could be wrong. The roboticizer blows up in his face, and Tails jumps out revealing that he clogged the machine filters with the fur from his tails, causing it to explode.

Just as Tails is about to beat up Robotnik though, Fiona slugs Tails straight in the face. Robotnik exclaims that the automation is programmed to defend him to the death. As Fiona trys smacking Tails with her club, Tails jumps out of the way- only to be caught by one of Robotniks robotic palmtrees. When he thinks he has him, Tails uproots the plant, then bashes Robotnik with it, sending him rolling down the sand. As Tails proclaims the evil Robotnik has done, Fiona pounces on him and sends them tumbling in a cloud of smoke down into the sea.

Fiona begins dunking Tails under the water, while he tries to convince her she still loves him. By the third attempt though, she rusts solid. Tails mourns over Fiona, crying about Robotnik creating a perfect woman, but forgetting to waterproof her. As he says he'll make him repair her, Robotnik laughs at him, flying away in his Egg-O-Matic.

Tails begins to pick up all of the litter left on the ground by Robotnik, but discovers a list of supplies being sent to a sattelite operation. As he is about to contact Sally, he realizes doing the mission could show he is as capable as the rest of them. As he rides off, the rusted Fiona cries as her love dives off in his submarine, with the author proclaiming Tails beginning his own 3-issue mini-series.
