Action Stage

Action Stages are the normal-style levels of Sonic Adventure and Sonic the Hedgehog (2006). Contrary to the non-linear, exploratory hubworlds, Action Stages are more like traditional zones, with a start point and a specific objective.

Sonic Adventure

The stages must be played through to advance the game's plot, and animals for the Chao Garden can be recovered within them. All the stages in Sonic Adventure are subdivided into smaller sections, often with rather different motifs and layouts. Specific characters then play only the segment of the level appropriate for their gameplay style. For example, Windy Valley is divided into three sections: Windy Hill, then Tornado, then The Air. E-102 Gamma plays only Windy Hill; Tails plays only The Air, while Sonic plays all three sections. Similarly, no character visits every stage in their story; Knuckles visits six out of eleven while Amy only goes to three.

Transit between these Action Stages is effected by the hubworld-like Adventure Fields, which are unlocked as the game progresses.
