It is a mobile Spring that can be used by Sonic and Tails.

Overview

The Pogo Spring can catapult the player into the air much like any other type of Spring, however it differs from other types in that it can attach itself to the feet of the player's character once activated, and will automatically begin bouncing like a pogo stick, hence its name. In this state, the player can move left or right while bouncing and use the bounces to go higher than regular jumping will allow.

The player can jump off the Pogo Spring at any time by pressing any button to discard the Pogo Spring and get even more height, though will be knocked off of the Pogo Spring if they collide into a wall. If they bounce into a harmful obstacle, they will lose the Pogo Spring and also take damage.

Game appearances

Sonic Chaos

Sonic Chaos is the first game to feature Pogo Springs, where they are contained within metallic boxes lined with black and yellow stripes. To start using a Pogo Spring, Sonic or Tails have to jump on top of it to get it going. They are found all around Sleeping Egg Zone and Mecha Green Hill Zone, though they are also featured in the second Special Stage where they are required for Sonic to reach the Chaos Emerald.
