Stories
Story one
Dr. Starline's "Operation: Remaster" is moving into its final testing stages. The shadowy scientist plans to create replacements for Sonic and Tails. The two test subjects he is using are Surge the Tenrec and Kitsunami the Fennec. Surge has speed to match Sonic along with electrokinesis. Kit has hydrokinetic tails under his control. Together they will battle Sonic and his friends while Starline replaces Eggman. Surge is eager to battle Sonic right away but Starline believes she and her partner need more testing, and when she tries to rise up over Starline he uses his hypnosis to put her and Kit to sleep. When going over their recent field tests, flashbacks are shown to when Surge and Kit caused a forest fire and later a blackout in Central City.
During the blackout, Starline tries to break into Tails' Lab in Emerald Town. Starline recalls how while he was covering his tracks, Tails is astute enough to know he was studying Belle the Tinkerer for something. He must make sure he doesn't review Belle's code, or he may realize what he's done to Surge and Kit. However the door is reinforced, so Starline can't get in without leaving behind damage. Their time limit runs out and they all retreat back to base. At home Starline gets into another argument with Surge, which leads to her questioning her identity. He is forced to reboot Surge and Kit again with his hypnosis, but it's starting to lose its effectiveness on them. When they wake up he lies to them and tricks them into helping with his next plan.
