"Frog"[1] is a scrapped enemy planned for Sonic the Hedgehog 2.
Overview
As the name suggests, it is a robotic frog, with its two rear legs replaced with springs. According to uncovered concept art drawn by Hirokazu Yasuhara, it was to make two short hops before making a large jump which reaches roughly twice the height of Sonic. Afterwards it would make two small hops and then turn around and repeat the pattern. Some iterations show the enemy firing a projectile from its mouth. No known prototypes contain any code for this enemy.
Unfinished graphics for the enemy were created by Tom Payne.
