The Mirage Saloon Zone Mini-Boss is the eighth mini-boss encountered in Sonic Mania. encountered at the end of Mirage Saloon Zone Act 1. It was an ordinary Caterkiller that was turned gigantic by the Heavy Magician.
Defeat Strategy
This mini-boss burrows through the sand in the background to jump out like a Sandworm and attack from either the back, the front or the sides of the screen. Its head is only vulnerable when it is directly above the Tornado, so be prepared to strike it.
When playing as Knuckles, this mini-boss is fought in a different location with a completely different strategy, choosing to attack Knuckles with the same strategy as the Dangerous Ball Tower from Sonic Chaos. It'll launch each of its segments at Knuckles, then replace them to begin the cycle anew. Its head is again its weak point, so jump up and hit it when it's low enough.
