A Moon Medal from Sonic Unleashed

PS2/Wii version

In this version, Sun Medals are obtained every time you complete a Night Stage's set objective for the first time:

  • In a Night Stage Act, there are three set objectives:
    • Time: finish the level within a set time;
    • Rings: collect at least a certain number of Rings;
    • Dark Gaia Force: collect at least a certain ammount of Dark Gaia Force.
  • In a Night Stage Mission, you have to simply clear the stage.
  • In a Night Stage Boss, you have beat the respective Boss (Dark Gaia Phoenix, Dark Moray, Dark Guardian or the Egg Dragoon).

Likewise, Moon Medals are obtained every time you complete a Day Stage's set objective for the first time:

  • In a Day Stage Act, there are three Time set objectives, each of them requiring you to finish the level within a gradually decreasing set time;
  • In a Day Stage Mission, you have to simply complete the stage.
  • In a Day Stage Boss, you have beat the respective Boss (Egg Beetle, Egg Devil Ray, Egg Lancer or Dark Gaia).

The Sun and Moon Medals serve to unlock the Item Doors at every Gaia Gate, so they are required to complete the game, as the last obtainable mission (in Adabat) requires you to get all Secret Items, so you need all the Item Doors that contain them. Also, even if you don't complete the last level, most Secret Missions are also obtained in the Gaia Gates.
