The Dark Eel is one of the many Dark Gaia minions encountered by Sonic the Werehog as enemies in the night stage of Arid Sands in Sonic Unleashed. This enemy appears only in the X-Box/PS3 version of the game, although a concept art of it still exists.

Overview
Rearing up from puddles apparently too small to contain them, these hydra-like opponents vomit plasma projectiles in the Werehog's direction, and will flail around violently if the hero gets too close. They can be paralyzed by electrocuting the water with a dropped Thunder Ball, which then makes punching them to death considerably less hazardous. Their serpentine form gives them a passing resemblance to the Dark Moray boss.
