Catcher Eggman
Game: Sonic the Hedgehog 2 (16-bit)
Level: Casino Night Zone
Hits to defeat: 8

Catcher Eggman (キャッチャーエッグマン)[1], also known as the Egg Claw[2], is the fourth boss of Sonic the Hedgehog 2, appearing at the end of Casino Night Zone.

Strategy

Cather Eggman is rather hard to defeat compared to the first three bosses of Sonic 2. Sonic and Tails find themselves inside a giant pinball machine, which is occupied by Dr. Eggman flying a more high-tech Egg Mobile, which drops red bombs and has an electric force field under it (so the player can't hit its underside). From time to time, if the player is on the flippers underneath Eggman's machine, he will reach down to hit them with his electric field. This boss is a frustrating one at first, but once the player gets the hang of it, it becomes relatively easy to beat.

The player must Spin Dash up the walls of the pinball machine, then hold Left or Right on the D-Pad, or press the jump button to jump off of the walls and onto Eggman. It is possible to hit him constantly from the top with the right trajectory and speed, killing this boss quickly. After eight hits, the boss is done, and Hill Top Zone follows.

This boss returns somewhat upgraded in Sonic the Hedgehog 4: Episode I.
