Green Hill, or Green Hill Zone, is a recurring level in the Sonic the Hedgehog series, usually set on South Island. As the first level of the first game, it quickly became synonymous with the Sonic brand itself. Its tropical island setting and checkered hillsides have inspired many other levels and locations in the series.

Sonic the Hedgehog (Archie comics)
Green Hill Zone is a recurring location in Archie's Sonic the Hedgehog comics. It first appeared, unnamed, on the cover of issue #0 of the original mini-series. It made its formal debut as a named location in issue #226. Additionally, Green Hill Park, an area of Knothole City, appeared in issue #134.
Sonic the Comic
Green Hill Zone, located on South Island, is a recurring location in Sonic the Comic. It first appeared in issue #1's Enter: Sonic.
Sonic X
Green Hill is mentioned in the 20th episode of the Japanese version of Sonic X, where Cream the Rabbit identifies it as the place she used to live on her home world. Cream's home appears later in the series, though it doesn't resemble the Green Hill of the video games.
Sonic the Hedgehog (IDW comics)
Green Hill appeared, unnamed, in issue #1 of IDW's Sonic the Hedgehog, based upon its partially destroyed appearance in Sonic Forces.
Sonic the Hedgehog (film)
In the Sonic the Hedgehog film, Sonic's Island is modeled after Green Hill Zone. After traveling to Earth, Sonic makes his home in a town called Green Hills, located in Montana, USA.
Elements of the original Green Hill Zone music are incorporated into the soundtrack, including the track Meet Sonic (Before We Start I Gotta Tell You This).
