Desert Palace Zone from Sonic the Hedgehog 3 is an example of the desert/western theme
Levels with the desert/western theme feature sand, the hot sun, quicksand, and spikes. This theme first appeared in Desert Palace Zone in Sonic the Hedgehog 3.
Levels of the western variety may sport rocky gorges and cacti, railroad features, saloons and tumbleweeds. Levels with this theme may also have elements common in the ancient ruins theme.
