Frog Forest
Ninth stage, Sonic Heroes
Level theme: jungle
Bullet Station | Lost Jungle

Frog Forest is the ninth stage in Sonic Heroes. A sprawling rainforest area just to the north of Bullet Station, this green jungle sees nature in overdrive. Mile-high mushrooms, vines that grow faster than you can run along them, and bouncy fruits even larger than Big are all to be found inside; Knuckles even comments on how the fungi are bigger than those on his own island. But the level's most useful megafauna comes in the form of giant green frogs that can summon rain with their croaks. These frog play a crucial role in stage completion, as their deluges can make plants grow, opening up new routes and giving the teams the means to complete the stage.

Story

After destroying "Eggman"'s Egg Albatross, but discovering that the pilot was a fake, Team Sonic is confronted only by mocking laughter from the wreckage. The boss fight was a trap to stall for time, and the Eggman Fleet has launched to conquer the world! Sonic and Knuckles sprint away to try and find some way of stopping the fleet - a route which takes them through Frog Forest. For Team Dark, Shadow is more determined than ever to track down the real Eggman after seeing a Shadow Android amidst the crashed Albatross. Team Rose has finally concluded that Eggman must be responsible for the kidnapping of Froggy and Chocola, and Amy also fantasises that if she can stop the Fat Man first, Sonic will be head-over-heels for her. Team Chaotix, finally, are ordered to sneak through the forest without being detected by Eggman's robots - a task which requires the team to avoid the frogs and the rain, rather than seek them out. As such, Espio's Chroma Camo invisibility is a useful skill to deploy here.

  • It is possible for Team Rose to exceed the goal ring to extend the gameplay on this level near the huge mushroom where only three other teams can reach the other side of the area where the 1st goal ring is placed for the team. When Cream has enough energy to make it after jumping off the vine by the goal ring, the team would be able to make it to the edge of the platform.
  • This is the only odd-numbered stage to lack cutscenes for all teams.
