The Red Nightmare (ナイトメア) is an enemy in the night stages of Sonic Unleashed and one of Dark Gaia's minions. This variant of the Nightmare appears only in the PS2/Wii version of the game.
Overview
They are similar to a Nightmare in terms of appearance, but they are colored red with cyan markings, and are a little faster, stronger and more aggressive to that of a regular Nightmare. They frequently attack in packs, appearing en masse in puffs of supernatural smoke, and Sonic is forced to smash his way through a whole lot of these standardised footsoldiers on his quest to fix the planet. Red Nightmares have the same attacking patterns of a Nightmare, lacking any sort of projectile offense, and instead attack the Werehog by means of their stretchy arms.
