The Deep Nightmare (ディープ・ナイトメア) is an enemy in the night stages of Sonic Unleashed and one of Dark Gaia's minions. Amongst the least strange of Dark Gaia's monsters, these blue-black humanoid enemies have thick forearms and spiked backs, which nevertheless lend them a bizarre, otherworldly appearence. Deep Nightmares can appear in puffs of supernatural smoke, and are usually found spearheading a group of their lesser cousins, the standard Nightmares. The two can be distinguished by the Deep Nightmare's darker blue colouring and larger horn, as well as their ability to take more punishment.
