Sonic the Hedgehog Boom is the first full-length soundtrack release connected to the Sonic the Hedgehog franchise. Available only in the west, the album features a selection of tracks from both the North America Special Edition version of Sonic the Hedgehog CD and the Mega Drive version of Sonic the Hedgehog Spinball. Instead of being simple rips from the games, all of the songs are extended mixes. This includes the four Spinball tracks, which were also sequenced outside of the Mega Drive hardware.
