Sonic Superstars: Fang's Big Break (ファングの大逆転) is a one-shot digital comic published by Sega to promote Sonic Superstars. The comic was posted on the official Sonic the Hedgehog social media accounts in four parts from September to October 2023, with the first part being posted on September 25^[1], the second part being posted on October 2^[2], and the final part being posted on October 9^[3].

Story

The comic opens with Dr. Eggman and Fang the Hunter arriving at the Northstar Islands in their respective hovercraft. Eggman reminds Fang that he needed someone to hunt down any beasts, treasures or people that will help him conquer the world, and addresses him by one of his fake names, Nack the Weasel. Fang exclaims he had dropped that name a long time ago due to his criminal record and had Eggman guess his real name, much to the scientist's confusion. Not caring what else Fang has to say, Eggman sends him on his mission. Fang makes a landing at a shoreline, thinking to himself that this will be the easiest gig ever, only to notice someone having seen him within the bushes. Fang reports back to Eggman asking if the island is inhabited, but Eggman just tells him to stop wasting time. Willing to charge Eggman extra for that response, Fang gets his popgun ready, and begins his hunt in the jungle.

Searching the jungle, Fang finds only wild animals living peacefully, and recalls his past encounters with Sonic, which he had lost because of "technical issues", however this time will be different. Before he could finish his thought however, he suddenly sinks into a giant footprint in the ground. Seeing the size of the tracks, Fang feels this will be a very easy and worthwhile hunt, even recounting how he had tracked down the Master Emerald three times in the past, all of which ended with him being stopped by Knuckles. Fang soon finds the source of the tracks - a giant Flicky eating grapes. Fang makes the first shot at the Flicky, hitting it on the cheek and interrupting its snack, prompting it to glare down at Fang in anger.

The Flicky lets out a big squawk and gives chase to Fang, crushing his popgun. Fang reminds himself that he is only repeating his past mistakes and that he is better than this, and so instead of simply taking on the Flicky head-on, he uses his tail to bounce around it as quickly as he can to make it dizzy. With the Flicky down for the count, Fang calls for the Marvelous Queen and fires a net at the Flicky, then secures the net to stop it from being able to escape. Shortly after, Fang's attention is then drawn to the figure who saw him earlier, Trip, who is nervously wielding a spear. When she takes a step forward however, she trips and drops her spear. As she tries to grab the spear, Fang steps on it, and proceeds to interrogate the sungazer lizard.
