Sand Sanctuary Zone is the sixth Zone of Sonic Superstars. Sand Sanctuary consists of only one Act which ends in a boss fight against Dr. Eggman.
This Zone is the standard desert-themed level of Sonic games, very reminiscent of Sandopolis Zone in many ways with its climbable sand falls and quicksand. The background features sand dunes that go further into the distance, ancient ruins of a past civilization, tornadoes and several cacti decorating the scenario. Similarly, the foreground has the ruins featured in a better light as well as sand falls.
A gigantic snake crosses the entirety of the level, serving as one of the Zone's main gimmicks - Sonic and friends can either run above the serpent's body or be bounced off it. Another main gimmick featured in the level are horizontal booster lines that quickly launch the character in a determined direction (either left or right), so players have to make fast-thinking decisions to jump between them or escape to find alternate routes; for that reason, the Zone is a perfect place to try out the Slow Emerald Power as it eases the challenge and allows for a more careful approach.
