Shortfuse the Cybernik is a character created for Sonic the Comic. Shortfuse was the first of Dr. Robotnik's "Cyberniks" - enhanced Badniks which could not easily be destroyed by Sonic the Hedgehog.

History
When the tempermental Shorty the Squirrel caused trouble for Robotnik, he was volunteered into the Cybernik program, however damage to a nearby computer gave Shorty full control over his new suit of armour, turning the tables on Robotnik and becoming one of the Freedom Fighters.
Shortfuse initially opted to fight alone, but frequently came into contact with Sonic and his cohorts. He is responsible for rescuing Tekno the Canary (who became a regular character), who in return upgraded Shortfuse's armour (adding red highlights to his shoulders and arms).
Towards the end of the comic the Cybernik shell was destroyed and Shorty retired to a normal life.
