The PAL version adds a ™ symbol to the game's title, while the NTSC-U version adds "™ &" to the copyright information at the bottom of the title screen.

The PC versions have a Sega logo, lifted from older Mega Drive games. It does not animate and there is no sound effect.

The title screen is rendered at a higher resolution, and features an updated copyright message. Everything has been redrawn, leading to Sonic having a different face.

While the animated introduction is rendered at the same size as the Mega-CD version, on Windows the full video is rendered, with more colours and frames of animation. The quality does not match up to the version seen in Sonic Jam two years later, but it was the highest quality version available at the time.

Loading times are more of a problem on Windows. Loading screens, depicting a stylised version of Little Planet, interrupt most screen changes in the game.
