Chaos Island is the third island in Sonic Frontiers, and one of the Starfall Islands.

Overview

Unlike Kronos Island and Ares Island, this island is remarkable by its colorless aspect and a set of smaller floating islands, featuring a volcanic terrain, numerous rivers of lava and an everlasting cloudy sky. Much like Kronos Island, this one features sand dunes and a very small quantity of floral life as indicated by the sparse trees across the ashen plains of the island. Similarities to the previous island that make up this archipelago come in the form of ancient ruins of a mysterious past civilization known merely as the Ancients. As noted by Sonic, the island is tall enough that it could be a risk for Angel Island to crash into if it was higher.

Opposed to the previous islands, Chaos Island features a lot more 2D segments; those are usually meant to be used as transitions between the many small islands, however they are present within them as an alternate way to either explore the map or take on challenges similar to their sibling islands. This level has 7 Cyber Space Portals and a Fishing Spot.

The Ancients, according to the flashbacks shown by the Koco, made this island their military frontline to combat The End with laser cannons esteemed to be as powerful as the Eclipse Cannon by Tails.

Name origin

Chaos Island is named after Chaos, the Greek concept of a mythological void state that precedes the creation of the universe. Generally personified as a female, Chaos is the primal feature of the universe, a shadowy realm of mass and energy. She embodies the emptiness, the abyss and the vast void as Chaos was all there was, an incarnation of the mystery and majesty. Her most notable feat was the creation of three primordial gods, Gaea, Tartarus and Eros.
