In the Game Gear version, the large hill with the loop on top has been raised up by one tile. The surrounding background, rings and rocket shoes object have also been updated to accommodate this. The tree on the right hand side has also been extended to match.

The US GG version has removed the rings at the start of the map, forcing the player to find the upper path to bring rings to the boss. The JP GG version restores these rings.
