Game: Sonic Frontiers |
Fishing Spots (釣り場) are locations in Sonic Frontiers. Taking place inside Cyber Space and accessed by entering Purple Portals found across the Starfall Islands, Sonic can participate in a fishing mini-game hosted by a digital projection of Big the Cat.
Gameplay
To go fishing, Sonic must pay Purple Coins to Big so he may be loaned a fishing rod for one try. The player should aim where they would like, then press to cast their line into the pond and wait. When a fish bites the lure, the player has to quickly press the same button to hook it, which will make one or more red circles appear around the lure. When the white ripple overlaps the red ripple, the player should quickly press with good timing to reel in the fish. Successfully reeling in a fish will reward the player, usually with Treasure Tokens, though reeling in a treasure box will award the player with different items, such as a Gold Card. At any time before a fish bites, the player may quit by pressing .
There are a total of four Fishing Spots that Sonic can visit, each one accessed from a different island. With each island Sonic visits, the cost to go fishing increases, but so will the Treasure Tokens rewarded for successful catches, and different kinds of fish can be found at each Fishing Spot. The Fishing Spots are as follows:
The Western Fishing Spot, accessed from Kronos Island. Costs 1 Purple Coin to fish.
The Northern Fishing Spot, accessed from Ares Island. Costs 2 Purple Coins to fish.
The Eastern Fishing Spot, accessed from Chaos Island. Costs 4 Purple Coins to fish.
The Southern Fishing Spot, accessed from Ouranos Island. Costs 8 Purple Coins to fish.
BBQ Spit
If the Monster Hunter Collaboration Pack DLC has been installed, there will be an extra mini-game accessible by selecting "Use BBQ Spit", and no Purple Coins are needed to play. In this mini-game, the objective is to cook a stick of meat as perfectly as possible to earn Treasure Tokens from Big. To play, the player must press to start grilling, then press again when they think the meat has been cooked thorougly, using the music and the meat's colour as an indication of when to stop grilling.
The number of Treasure Tokens awarded will vary depending on the meat's doneness, with lower payouts for undercooking or overcooking the meat, and higher payouts if the meat was cooked perfectly. These payouts will also increase depending on where the mini-game is played. Sonic is not required to wear the Rathalos or Felyne Rathalos outfits in order to play this mini-game.
Trade Tokens
The player can exchange the Treasure Tokens awarded from catching fish to Big for items. Gold Tokens found in treasure boxes may also be exchanged without having to spend any Treasure Tokens. The items available are:
