Sonic and Tails are flying on his plane, (note he is onboard the Tornado, as it was destroyed in Sonic Adventure) following a powerful energy signal, which is most likely the Jeweled Scepter, a powerful item that is introduced in this game, and get caught in a storm. They wash up on Southern Island, (not to be confused with South Island, which was Sonic's original home) They encounter a little girl called [[Marine the Raccoon]], and soon realise that they are in Blaze's dimension when they bump into each other. They meet Marine's koala friends and set off on this adventure, with Marine thinking she's a captain.

The game has a "Pirates" theme; in lieu of that, a new pair of villains have arrived, under the name of Captain Whiskers and his right hand man, Johnny the Pirate. Keeping in mind how "whiskers" is another name for a mustache, hence Captain Whiskers and possibly Johnny are creations of Dr. Eggman and Eggman Nega.

Differences from Sonic Rush

  • Unlike Sonic Rush, Sonic and Blaze share the same story, and you don't choose the character you play as when you start playing, in fact you choose before you play a stage.
  • Levels are separated into islands, and you set sail to play there.

Story

Sonic and Tails are flying on his plane, the Tornado, following a powerful energy signal (most likely the Jeweled Scepter, a powerful item that is introduced in this game) and get caught in a storm. They wash up on Southern Island, (not to be confused with South Island) where hey encounter a little girl called Marine the Raccoon. The two soon realise that they are in Blaze's dimension when they bump into each other. They meet Marine's koala friends and set off on this adventure, with Marine thinking she's a captain.

Toward the end, Sonic, Blaze and Tails tell Marine to stay behind while they finish off the adventure, after all they've come to and Blaze even calls Marine a nuisance. Heartbroken, Marine sets off on her own, as she won't give up. Soon she gets captured, but uses it as an advantage to get back the Jeweled Scepter. Marine finally gets some respect, but only after being lectured.

Soon, the Jeweled Scepter gets stolen by Sonic's archenemy, Dr. Eggman, and Blaze's archenemy, Dr. Eggman Nega. With no other way to defeat it, they use the emeralds to transform and destroy the mech. Although Sonic and Blaze couldn't defeat the mech, Marine merely throws a rock at its back, leaving it open for Sonic's attack.

Finally, Sonic and Tails go back to their own dimension, and Marine stays with them the most she can, on her new waterbike, the S.S Super Marine. She vows that she will become a real captain one day, and will see Sonic and Tails again, even if it means going to their dimension.
