Sonic Speed Simulator is a multiplayer online Sonic the Hedgehog game developed for the Roblox platform under license from Sega. Gameplay

In the game, the player must dash around the 6 Zones in the game to collect Chaos Orbs, which grant varying amounts of XP. Upon collection enough XP, the character levels up, increasing base speed and power (power is capped off at 100 without the help of pet enchants.) At 0 rebirths, the maximum level is 25, increasing by 25 for each rebirth. Rebirthing can only be done when the maximum level is reached and grants rewards such as extra rings and a permanent XP multiplier, but resets the current level to 0 and respawning you in Green Hill. By becoming faster, you are able to take on races easier. Races are short, normally minute-long courses that require a fast character to go through due to the nature of these courses and the strict time limit. Collecting and levelling up types of Chao and Trails can make the process of levelling up and rebirthing easier.
Other than what is mentioned above, other activities to do include riding the Tornado in a short shooter segment, Clearing small obstacle courses (called "Obbies" in-game,) and clearing events for more characters.

Controversy
On December 10th, An update was rolled out for a promotion of Sonic Prime, featuring an early broadcast of the first episode within the game itself. As a way to promote the event, Sonic the Hedgehog themed content was added to other Gamefam-owned Roblox experiences Funky Friday, Starving Artists, and Weapon Fighting Simulator.[4]
Following the addition of the content to Funky Friday, ninjamuffin99, the original developer and creator of Friday Night Funkin', of which the Roblox game is an unofficial recreation of, voiced displeasure over the Sonic Prime partnership within the recreation of his game. Ninjamuffin99 is currently looking for information from his lawyers on the subject.[5] [6]
After the original statements from ninjamuffin99, Digital Purgatory, a former Gamefam employee and modeler for several characters within Sonic Speed Simulator, including Classic Sonic and Sonic the Werehog, created a document going over his experiences working with Gamefam. This included being underpaid, being crunched for weekly updates, and being terminated from the company without a 10-day notice[7]. In a response to the allegations, Gamefam Studios posted an image on December 12th that claims that the accusations brought upon them were false, with little evidence to back up their claims[8].
