Template:CompilationBob Sega Genesis Collection (known as Sega Mega Drive Collection outside of North America) is a compilation of several Sega games spanning several consoles. Included in the collection is 28 readily playable games and 5-6 unlockable games which are exclusive to each system. There are also several unlockable interviews from SEGA of Japan employees, a "museum" which features facts and strategies about the games, and unlockable arcade games.

The emulation of the games graphics have had a few problems, such as such when the screen flashes when Sonic goes underwater in the original Sonic the Hedgehog. The sound effects also have a few problems such as when a Spin Dash is performed in Sonic the Hedgehog 2 and the special stage music not playing and music not changing when collecting the Power Sneakers in either Sonic game. The Star Handle sound effect in Ristar is also different. Other games have also been noted for having sound effects that sound slightly different or don't play at all. Phantasy Star IV has a problem with the "Victory Music" not playing at the end of a battle.

Sonic the Hedgehog

Surely you're familiar with this game. It's the very first adventure for the blue dude with the tude, Sonic the Hedgehog. When the evil Dr. Ivo "Eggman" Robotnik begins snatching innocent woodland animals and transforming them into robotic instruments of destruction, only the world's fastest hedgehog can save the day. Lead Sonic through six different zones full of ramps, jumps, loops, and bottomless pits. Collect as many rings as you can and free the innocent critters from Robotnik's clutches. If you want to see the true ending, however, you must collect all of the Chaos Emeralds from within the dizzying Special Stages.

Did You Know?

  • Sonic the Hedgehog was first released on June 23, 1991. On the games 10th anniversary SEGA celebrated by releasing Sonic Adventure 2 for the SEGA Dreamcast. A Japanese 10th Anniversary Birthday Pack of SA2 also included a soundtrack CD, a history booklet, and a collectable coin.
  • The characters of Sonic the Hedgehog and Dr. Robotnik/Dr.Eggman were designed by former SEGA employee, Naoto Ohshima.

Sonic the Hedgehog 2

Dr. Robotnik is back, and you can bet that Sonic's not far behind. This time, the bad doctor has created the ultimate weapon - the dreaded Death Egg! Sonic's not in this fight alone, however. He now has a pint-sized sidekick named Tails, the two-tailed fox with the ability to hover for a brief amount of time. He's also got a new move, the lightning fast Spin Dash, which allows him to blast through Robotnik's mechanized hordes. The 3D Special Stages bring a whole new perspective to Sonic's SEGA Genesis adventures, and the split-screen two-player mode allows you and a friend to see who is the fastest.

Did You Know?

  • The U.S. and European release date of Sonic 2 was on Tuesday, November 24, 1992. SEGA dubbed the day Sonic 2sday.
  • Tails real name is Miles Prower, a pun of the phrase "miles per hour".
  • Sonic 2 marks the first appearence of Sonic's golden, powered-up form, Super Sonic.
