Virtual Sonic Enhanced Music Inspired by the Worlds of Sonic is an album of music related to the Sonic the Hedgehog franchise. Though containing tracks featured in Sonic the Hedgehog Spinball and Sonic & Knuckles, two-thirds of the songs on this release are original compositions not seen anywhere else.
Though not commercially available until 1996, the tracks were actually written and recorded three years prior, composer and performer Howard Drossin given a month to create an album of Sonic music from beginning to end. Though he asked for more time, Sega was insistent at the schedule, wanting the tracks ready for the opening of the Sega Store in the Luxor Hotel in Las Vegas, Nevada.[1]

Miscellaneous
- Released under the "Sega Tunes" banner, Virtual Sonic was the first of five CDs under that heading, each featuring music from a current Sega franchise. The others in the series were Vectorman, Comix Zone, ToeJam & Earl in Panic on Funkotron, and Marvel Comics, X-Men 2: Clone Wars. There was also a 5-Disc set entitled Sega Tunes: Virtual Sonic and More! which contained all five albums in a convenient box set. Each of these, including the box set, were released on the same day.
