{{Bob|bobscreen=Gsonic_title.gif|publisher=Sega|developer=Sega|system=Sega Game Gear]] / [[Master System|europe=Nov. 1996|usa=Nov. 1996|japan=13 Dec. 1996|genre=2D Platform|seealso=Sonic 3D: Flickies' Island}} Sonic Blast (or G Sonic, as it is known in Japan) is a video game for the Sega Game Gear.
The game was released in North America in November 1996. The game came to Europe later that month. The Japanese release was on December 13, 1996.
It was released in Brazil for the Sega Master System by Tec Toy, SEGA's Brazilian distributor. The brazilian SMS version suffers of worse graphics, due to the system's limited palette. Because it's large size (8 megabits), it won't run in the earliest Master System models.
The two playable characters in the game are Sonic the Hedgehog and Knuckles the Echidna. The two have to collect five Chaos Emeralds in stages visually similar to the Sonic 3 special stages, but instead collecting rings like in the Megadrive Sonic 2 special stage. You only get emeralds in the second acts, if you win a special stage in the first act you gain an extra life instead. Similar to Sonic 3, you enter special stages through large rings hidden in the regular stages.
