The Red Nightmare (ナイトメア) is an enemy in the night stages of Sonic Unleashed and one of Dark Gaia's minions. This variant of the Nightmare appears only in the PS2/Wii version of the game.
Overview
They are similar to a Nightmare in terms of appearance, but they are colored red with cyan markings, and are a little faster, stronger and more aggressive to that of a regular Nightmare. They frequently attack in packs, appearing en masse in puffs of supernatural smoke, and Sonic is forced to smash his way through a whole lot of these standardised footsoldiers on his quest to fix the planet. Red Nightmares have the same attacking patterns of the Nightmares, lacking any sort of projectile offense, and instead attack the Werehog by means of their stretchy arms.
