Bomblin[1] is a variety of Badnik created by Dr. Eggman, encountered by Sonic and Tails in Electric Egg Zone during Sonic Chaos.

Overview

Functionally identical to the Bomb enemy in Sonic 1 and the 8-bit Sonic 2, this waddling black mine waits for Sonic or Tails to approach before detonating in a shower of energy balls. The only thing the hedgehog and fox can do is dodge out of the way of the blast.

This robot, along with the similar Bomb enemies, do not seem to contain an animal friend as an organic battery - or if they do, there's the rather unfortunate implication that the critter is terminated by the robot's suicidal explosion.
