- Sonic the Hedgehog is one of the few Sonic-related albums to have singles released to support and generate interest for the work. Both "They Call Me Sonic" and "King of the Ring" received the maxi-single treatment, the former even including a German version of the title track.
- Due to the album's label being named Arcade, some fans have mistakenly thought that Sonic the Hedgehog actually contained music from Sonic's first major entry into the arcade circuit, Segasonic the Hedgehog. However, neither source shares any musical cues, that game's soundtrack still currently unreleased.
- The cover art to Sonic the Hedgehog uses the same image found on the western version of Sonic Chaos for the Sega Game Gear. However, nothing from that game is related to the contents of the German electronic album.
- At least on iTunes, when retrieving the song info via Gracenote, the Artist info is credited as Arcade Deutschland.
