Asura is a Guardian from Sonic Frontiers, appearing on the first island, Kronos Island. It is a gigantic, bipedal being, with three colossal arms used to defend itself.
Strategy
When Sonic approaches Asura, it will attempt to strike him down with one of its giant arms. In order to defeat it, Sonic must climb its arms by using the blue rings it generates to dash up them after its slam attack, then attack the spires atop each of its appendages. After each spire has taken enough damage, the arm will break off, and Sonic will be forced to attack another arm instead. With each arm that it loses, Asura will increase its defenses by generating red rings alongside the blue rings that will repel Sonic if he tries to run through them. It will also generate laser fields around the remaining spires.
After all of its arms have been destroyed, Asura will go down. It drops a Portal Gear upon defeat.
Name origin
Asura is named after Asuras, a race of beings in Indic religions such as Hinduism and Buddhism. They are described as titans or demigods, with superhuman abilities, who are in a constant battle with the Devas. They are usually depicted as having either good or bad qualities, although in some texts they are described as being an enemy of the gods.
