The Wire Attack[1] (ワイヤーアタック[2]) is a move performed by the Avatar in Sonic Forces. It involves the use of a grappling hook for attacking and movement.
Overview
The primary use of the Wire Attack is a form of attack against enemies in a similar manner to the Homing Attack. In the middle of a jump, pressing (PS4)/ (XB1)/ (Switch) when a green reticle appears over a target will make the Avatar shoot a grappling hook from a wrist-mounted gun at the target, then pull themself towards it at high speed to attack it. Like the Homing Attack, the Wire Attack can also target certain objects such as Springs.
The Wire Attack can also be used for movement. It can be fired at overhead targets in platforming sections to hook on to them and swing into the air to cross large gaps or reach high places, and can hook on to objects when making corners to swing around them. The Avatar can also use the Wire Attack when taking the lead in Tag Team stages, holding Sonic's hand in the process.
