Desert Palace Zone is the fourth zone in the Competition Mode of Sonic the Hedgehog 3. It is very similar to Sandopolis Zone in Sonic & Knuckles, with a large loop, a quicksand pit, and a collapsible sand bridge. It's not too hard to navigate and can be finished by just holding right and jumping occasionally.

Instruction Manual Description

Trek across a desert which is lined with dry sand. You'll have to leap off of falling platforming and avoid sinking in pools of quicksand.
