The Wood Buttarundorf (ウッド゠ブッタルンドルフ)[1] is the boss of Meta Junglira Zone, and the third in Sonic the Hedgehog Triple Trouble. As in Triple Trouble's predecessor, Sonic Chaos, Dr. Eggman has dispatched this larger Badnik to attack Sonic and Tails.
Strategy
The Wood Buttarundorf appears to be some sort of jauntily-coloured robotic tree snake, with a segmented spherical body reminiscant of Gigalopolis Zone's boss in Sonic Chaos. The automaton swings back and forth from the canopy, putting up very little resistance to Spin Attacks. The player has to pay attention to how it swings back and forth, and hit its head. Every time the boss is hit, it will retract itself, then restart its swinging pattern.
After thirteen hits, the Wood Buttarundorf will be destroyed, but burning pieces of the snake's body will start raining down from the trees at high speed, requiring quite nimble dodging from the player. Because of how fast the pieces fall, it is very easy for the player to get hit, so they must pay attention to the top of the screen and keep moving. After fifteen pieces fall, the battle is truly over, and Sonic/Tails will encounter Knuckles again, who steps on a button and triggers another fiery trap that sends the heroes to Robotnik Winter Zone.
