The Sonic the Hedgehog 3 EPROM is a test cartridge currently owned by LocalH, who bought it from Phugolz for about $100. The cartridge can be plugged into Sonic & Knuckles the same as you can with the released cartridge. There is no battery on the PCB, therefore saved games don't persist when power is turned off; however, saved games do persist while the system is powered on.

The ROM was finally dumped on July 25, 2005. The binary image was found to be identical to that of the US NTSC retail version of Sonic the Hedgehog 3.
